Street Department

The Salyersville Street Department does an enormously varied amount of work with limited resources. It consists of two full-time and five part-time/seasonal employees. They stay busy maintaining Salyersville by performing a multitude of tasks.

From mowing, cleaning, building, decorating, clearing streets, their day is always busy. Most time theirs is a thankless job that is taken for granted. However, Salyersville would be in dreadful shape without their ongoing effort.

Through regional initiatives, grant funding, will of city government, and the hard work of the Salyersville Street Department, downtown Salyersville is looking better all the time.

Wayfinding signage, hanging floral baskets, the gazebo and development of Salyersville’s city park, and other amenities add greatly to the overall appeal of Salyersville. It is hoped that through our and other’s ongoing efforts, downtown will undergo a renaissance spurring business and economic development. The Salyersville Street Department is a key partner in this effort.
